A different sort of ancestor gallery, perhaps, cut-out initials where the meaning is in the gap, in what is not there. The relationship between textiles and text.

How to transfer patterns using charcoal and cuttlefish.

Heads in profile embossed like they are on coins. Who are these people guiding the thread through the eye of the needle?

Textiles are not only a matter of yarns and fibres - tools, implements and findings are made from metal, wood, plastic and bone.

 

Green velvet in my mind is always associated with Scarlet O'Hara's dress made from the sumptuous fabric of faded glory.
