I bought these from a much larger collection that an older couple was selling at a car boot sale. The woman had been collecting these for a long time: people would bring dolls for her back from their travels. Maybe the time had come to lighten the burden of possessions. I also bought an embroidery frame with a piece of unfinished Penelope needlework on it, another time piece.
