Themes, Comments and Storylines

“My earliest memory comes from before I was 2 years old. I remember going to visit my grandparents who owned a haberdashery. I specifically remember my grandfather (although in the memory his face is not clear). I remember him wearing black trousers, an open necked white shirt and a grey cardigan, the cardigan being made of heavy knit cotton. He always had a tape measure hanging around his neck. I remember the layout of the shop, how I loved to touch the fabrics, my grandfather sitting me on the measuring table to play, or letting me sit under the table with big boxes of buttons and sequins and feathers to play with. I remember feeling happy and special.”
